Single White Female
Based on the iconic 90s psychological thriller, this world-premiere stage adaptation of Single White Female reimagines the best-selling book and cult classic film.
Single White Female builds tension flawlessly from the very beginning of the show, steadily drawing the audience in and maintaining a gripping sense of unease throughout. The production keeps you on edge from start to finish, creating an atmosphere so immersive that you can momentarily forget you’re even sitting in a theatre.
The play follows Allie, a new mother rebuilding her life, whose search for a housemate leads to an unsettling relationship that slowly begins to unravel. The first act carefully layers tension until you’re leaning forward in your seat, while the second intensifies that feeling even further. The immersive nature of the production pulls you completely into the world of the play, making every moment feel immediate and unsettling.
Despite the small cast, you would never guess there are only five actors on stage. Each performer brings such depth and life to their role that the world feels fully populated. The chemistry between the cast is particularly strong, giving the impression of characters who have known each other for years rather than actors sharing a stage.
Kym Marsh delivers a commanding performance, seamlessly translating her screen presence to the stage. From her first entrance, there is an undeniable tension surrounding her character, and Marsh expertly sustains this throughout the production. Her performance is unsettling, controlled, and increasingly intense, showcasing her ability to captivate an audience with perfect precision.

Single White Female Full Cast
Lisa Faulkner matches this energy with a deeply raw and emotionally grounded performance. Her portrayal feels honest and flawed, allowing the audience to connect with her character on a human level. Her on-stage relationship with Amy Snudden is particularly affecting, with moments that feel uncomfortably familiar and emotionally resonant. The performances from all three women are exceptional.
Providing contrast is Andro as Graham, whose flamboyant and charismatic performance brings much-needed lightness to the production. While humorous, the character never feels shallow, and Andro convincingly conveys Graham’s genuine care and loyalty.
Jonny McGarrity rounds out the cast with a charming yet deeply unpleasant presence, delivering a performance that is both engaging and unsettling. His character adds another layer of tension to an already charged environment.
Beyond the performances, every technical element of the production works in harmony to heighten the experience. The single set, Allie’s flat, is richly detailed and thoughtfully designed, with subtle elements that add to the sense of unease. One particularly striking prop looms over the space, acting as a constant visual reminder of the weight hanging over the characters.

The lighting design is sharp and impactful, punctuating scenes and heightening moments of shock and tension. At times it is genuinely startling, while also being used more subtly to distinguish memory, emotion, and shifting power dynamics. The sound design is equally effective, blending contemporary music with unsettling effects that steadily build dread as the story unfolds.
Every aspect of the production comes together to create a thoroughly absorbing experience. It is rare to find a show that encourages such active engagement from its audience. Conversations continued into the interval as theories, suspicions, and questions were shared.
Single White Female is a tightly constructed and deeply engaging production that keeps its audience enthralled throughout. With outstanding performances and exceptional technical execution, it is a piece of theatre that lingers long after you leave your seat.
